Check out this affirmative action bake sale. Though it was shut down, it still makes a great point.

Obama teaching Geithner art of nuance

Only another example of nuance within the Obama Administration. Or wait, is it incompetence? On the other hand, I guess it could be flat-out lying. Who knows anymore? There’s been plenty of each to go around.

AIG VP quits in protest

Finally, regarding AIG, we get to hear from a voice from someone on the inside who isn’t afraid to stand up for what he believes. Very refreshing is this op-ed/resignation letter to the chief of AIG. Here’s a morsel:

None of us should be cheated of our payments any more than a plumber should be cheated after he has fixed the pipes but a careless electrician causes a fire that burns down the house.”

For more truth than the entire press and the Feds combined this piece is definitely worth a read. (h/t: HotAir)

Obama’s “Special Olympics” joke was funny

This is where I draw the line, folks. Funny is funny. If you’re no longer able to tell a good joke at someone’s expense, sorry, but get outta my face. Let’s all quit pretending to be so damn thin-skinned already. Or if you really are thin-skinned, at least pretend you’re not.

Discrimination is actually a good thing

Excellent speech by Evan Sayet, conservative satirist. This speech, however, is not satire. It is a dust and bones boiled down speech on why modern liberals think the way they do. Maybe this is heresy to Dittoheads like myself, but this guy may give Rush a run for his money in understanding the modern liberal. Highly enlightening.

Got liberty?

The idea of liberty is an ever shrinking idea. People do not think much about it nowadays. This is evident from the fact that it is not talked about much these days.

Here’s a thought: when was the last time you heard some bad news? Probably today, right? Bad news is all around us, we are bombarded by it. Think about the last item of bad news you heard, be it local or global, then think about what you thought in the next instant. Just by chance, was it, “Someone should do something about that!”? Or perhaps, “That person should sue.”? Perhaps you thought something different or maybe even none of these. Regardless, likely, not long ago you heard of some injustice, great or small, were appalled, and thought, “That just isn’t right, something should be done.”

Certainly injustices exist which ought to be remedied. However, there are others which should be left alone. For all too often, to fix an injustice is to relinquish freedom. Perhaps here is where the old adage by Ben Franklin applies, “They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

Though many may agree with Franklin, too many of us are too short-sighted in our perceived wants. Fattened by a myriad of comforts which only help fuel our addictions, and wanting to do less and less while receiving more and more, it’s no wonder there is a shortage of freedom-loving people; it is hard work. More freedom must not only be fought for; we must fight even to maintain that which we already have. Perhaps a good place to begin a serious contemplation of liberty is to at least pause at the next encountered injustice, and think twice before concluding what action, if any, should be undertaken.
